Easy And Natural Toothpaste Recipes

Here are three different natural toothpaste recipes you can try at home, each with slightly different ingredients. Note that these natural toothpaste recipes may not have the same foaming action as store-bought toothpaste and you can adjust the ingredients to taste.

Easy And Natural Toothpaste Recipes

1. Baking Soda Natural Toothpaste Recipe

Ingredients:
– 3 tablespoons of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
– 1.5 tablespoons of coconut oil (melted)
– 10 drops of essential oils (for flavor and freshness, optional) such as peppermint or tea tree oil
– Stevia or honey to taste (optional, for sweetness)

Instructions:
1. In a small bowl, mix together the baking soda and melted coconut oil until well combined.
2. Add in essential oils and stevia or honey (if using) and stir until you get your desired consistency. You may need to add more coconut oil if it’s too thick or more baking soda if it’s too thin.
3. Transfer the mixture into a clean glass jar.
4. Wet your toothbrush and gently scoop some of the paste onto the brush. Brush as normal.
5. Rinse thoroughly after brushing and store any remaining paste in the jar for future use.

2. Activated Charcoal Toothpaste

Ingredients:
– 2 tablespoons of coconut oil (melted)
– 1-2 teaspoons of activated charcoal powder
– 10 drops of essential oils (for flavor and freshness, optional) such as peppermint or tea tree oil
– Stevia or honey to taste (optional, for sweetness)

Instructions:
1. In a small bowl, mix together the melted coconut oil and activated charcoal powder until well combined. The consistency will be thick and paste-like. If it’s too thick, you can add a little more melted coconut oil or water to adjust.
2. Add in essential oils (if using) and stevia or honey (if using) and mix well. Taste the toothpaste and adjust the amount of sweetener according to your preference.
3. Transfer the mixture into a clean glass jar or small container with a lid.
4. Wet your toothbrush and gently scoop some of the paste onto the brush. Brush as normal.
5. Rinse thoroughly after brushing and spit out any remaining charcoal residue. Store any remaining paste in the jar for future use.

Note: Activated charcoal can stain surfaces and clothing, so make sure to be careful when using it. It can help to improve oral hygiene by eliminating bacteria and freshening breath. 

2. Clay Toothpaste 

Ingredients:
– 1 tablespoon of bentonite clay
– 1 tablespoon of coconut oil (melted)
– 5 drops of essential oils (for flavor and freshness, optional) such as peppermint or tea tree oil
– Stevia or honey to taste (optional, for sweetness)

Instructions:
1. In a small bowl, mix together the bentonite clay and melted coconut oil until well combined.
2. Add in essential oils and stevia or honey (if using) and stir until you get your desired consistency. You may need to add more coconut oil if it’s too thick or more clay if it’s too thin.
3. Transfer the mixture into a clean glass jar.
4. Wet your toothbrush and gently scoop some of the paste onto the brush. Brush as normal.

Note: Bentonite clay is non-toxic but may not be suitable for people with certain health conditions, so make sure to do your research and consult with a healthcare professional before using.

3. Diatomaceous Earth Toothpaste

Ingredients:
– 1 tablespoon of diatomaceous earth (food grade)
– 2 tablespoons of water
– 1 tablespoon of xylitol or another sweetener (optional, for taste)
– 5 drops of essential oils (for flavor and freshness, optional) such as peppermint or tea tree oil

Instructions:
1. In a small bowl, mix together the diatomaceous earth and water until you get a paste-like consistency. It may take some time for all the water to be absorbed.
2. Add in xylitol or another sweetener (if using) and essential oils (if using) and stir well.
3. Transfer the mixture into a clean glass jar.
4. Wet your toothbrush and gently scoop some of the paste onto the brush. Brush as normal.
5. Rinse thoroughly after brushing and store any remaining paste in the jar for future use.

Food grade diatomaceous earth is safe for consumption but should be kept away from pets as it can be harmful to them in large quantities.
