Ingredients:
– Fresh dandelion flowers and leaves (enough to fill 1 quart jar)
– 100 proof vodka (or another high-proof alcohol)

Equipment:
– Quart-sized glass jar with a tight-fitting lid
– Cheesecloth or coffee filter and rubber bands
– Dropper bottle (optional)

Procedure:
1. Harvest fresh dandelion flowers and leaves, making sure they are free of insects, pollution, and other contaminants. Rinse them gently under cool running water.

2. Pack the flowers and leaves into a clean quart-sized glass jar, pressing down to make sure they’re compacted well but not crushed.

3. Cover the plant material with 100 proof vodka, leaving about an inch of headspace at the top for expansion during maceration. Stir the mixture gently with a plastic or silicone spatula.

4. Label the jar with the contents and date. Store it in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight for 4-6 weeks. Shake the jar daily to ensure even extraction of the dandelion’s properties into the alcohol.

5. After 4-6 weeks, strain out the plant material using cheesecloth or a coffee filter and rubber bands. Collect the tincture in a clean glass container. Discard the spent plant material.

6. Store the finished dandelion tincture in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. Amber dropper bottles are recommended for longer storage to protect the product from light degradation.

7. Take 30-60 drops of the dandelion tincture daily as needed.
