How To Prepare Shungite Water
- Shungite stones or chips (food-grade)
- Clean, filtered water
- A glass or ceramic container (avoid plastic or metal)
1. Cleaning Shungite
Rinse the shungite stones or chips thoroughly under running water to remove any dust or debris. Sterilize 100g shungite stones or chips in boiling water for 10 minutes. Cool, then rinse thoroughly again. Don’t use soap.
2. Charging the Shungite
Some people believe that shungite should be charged before using it. To do this, you can place the cleaned Shungite in direct sunlight for a few hours. This step is optional and based on personal beliefs.
3. Placing Shungite in the Water
Add the cleaned shungite stones or chips to the clean glass or ceramic container. The ratio of shungite to water can vary, but a common guideline is to use about 100 grams of shungite for every 1 liter of water. Adjust the quantity based on your preferences. Pour cold tap water or filtered water over the shungite.
4. Let it Sit:
Let the water stand with the shungite stones for 24 hours, and shungite chips for 72 hours in order to obtain maximum effect. The container must be open to breathe during this process. A thin, natural fibre cloth can be used to cover the container to exclude dust and insects. During this time, the Shungite may work to absorb impurities and minerals from the water.
5. Use or Store
After the resting period, your shungite water is ready to use. Pour the shungite-infused water into another lidded container. This water is the finished water, ready for use. Refill the original shungite container with tap or filtered water to prepare a new batch.
You can drink it, use it for cooking, or for any other purpose you typically use water. Store it in a clean, covered container in the refrigerator if you’re not using it immediately.
Shungite water is typically used therapeutically, and not on a full-time basis. Drink a glass every morning (but take a week-long break from it once a month). You can also work up to using 2-3 glasses of shungite water per day. It can stimulate the draining of toxins from the body and thereby speed up processes that are underway. Also, as with all energizing drinks, consuming shungite water is not recommended in large doses.
Shungite water is great for skin and hair, and for minor wounds. Pets and plants respond well to this water.
Shungite keeps indefinitely. There is no risk of it getting negatively charged. However, in order to keep this preparation physically clean (avoiding an accumulation of nitrates, chlorine, and so forth), you can purify the shungite in the sun for an hour every six months. Also, sterilize the container at regular intervals.
If the water you use is heavily chlorinated or polluted, replace the shungite approximately every 1- 2 years.
